How to Make Clip Covers and Quote Cards

Choose a frame or source quote, design a readable image and download PNG or JPG. Keep image drafts, source revisions and video permissions clear.

A cover helps someone understand what a clip is about before pressing play. A quote card gives one statement room to be read on its own. ClipPrism lets you make both from a saved Clip, using its picture and source text while keeping the image draft separate from the video.

Use a truthful frame, a readable title and a complete quote. Save the image draft, generate it and inspect the actual PNG or JPG. A useful design should identify the subject without promising more than the recording delivers.

1. Start from the version you intend to promote

Open the Clip in Edit clip and choose Make image in the delivery area. Select Cover / thumbnail or Quote card. Each has its own image document, so changing the cover does not turn it into the quote card or replace your video edits.

Images use a saved video revision. If the Clip has unsaved changes, return to save the video first or explicitly choose Use saved video. This choice matters if you have removed a sentence or changed the range: a frame or quotation from the previous revision might no longer belong in the version you will publish.

For an audio-only Clip, use its cover, an authorized uploaded image or a solid background. There is no recorded video frame to select. The resulting PNG or JPG is a separate image; the Audiogram workflow creates the playable video for the audio itself.

2. Choose the frame and write a specific title

For video, open Choose frame and crop. Play through the retained part of the Clip, then use the previous-frame and next-frame controls to refine the choice. Look for an expression and composition that represent the discussion fairly. Do not choose a misleading expression merely because it attracts attention.

Choose the output ratio for the destination: 16:9 at 1280×720, 9:16 at 1080×1920, or 1:1 at 1080×1080. Crop deliberately and check the subject at that ratio. A landscape frame may need a different text placement when used as a portrait cover.

Edit the title so it tells the viewer what the passage offers. A title such as “Why we postponed hiring” is more informative than “This changes everything” when the recording explains a specific team decision. The suggested title is a starting point; check it against the actual selection. You can use an authorized uploaded background or a solid color when the source frame is unsuitable.

3. Keep the quotation attached to its context

Choose Quote card, then Choose original quote. Review a recommended quote or select consecutive retained subtitle lines, and choose Apply selected text. Recommendations identify possible passages; they do not replace checking that the statement makes sense outside the episode.

Keep conditions and uncertainty that matter to the meaning. “This helped our team that month” should not become a universal promise. If the selected text is too long for one card, choose a shorter complete passage instead of shrinking it until it becomes difficult to read. Avoid joining unrelated sentences into a quotation the speaker never delivered.

When a matching subtitle translation is available, the quote can reuse it. If that translation is unavailable, the tool indicates that it is using the original text. Switching the interface language does not translate the quote. Compare translated wording with the source and use a fluent reviewer when needed; the caption translation guide explains the separate translation controls.

Manual changes retain a source comparison. Review that comparison and fill in attribution only when you can verify the speaker or source. The product does not infer an attribution for you. A corrected or paraphrased sentence should not be presented as a verbatim quote when it changes what was said.

4. Make the card readable at its real viewing size

Adjust the text’s font, color, effect and background. Move its box to leave room for the face or relevant visual detail. Resize the box to control wrapping, then check the whole sentence. If text does not fit, shorten the selection or change the layout; do not accept an image that cuts off its ending.

The shared text-appearance controls can import an appearance from an eligible caption scheme or another text area. Importing a style does not copy wording, translation, timing or position. Check those choices separately. Lite and Standard can reuse their permitted brand resources and private fonts; personal schemes share the existing category capacity rather than creating a new image-only collection.

Preview the composition small enough to resemble a feed or phone screen. Inspect contrast, names, punctuation and attribution. Keep the title clear even when the background contains faces or detailed scenery. The output is an opaque image, so do not expect a transparent PNG background.

5. Save, generate and inspect the image file

Choose Save image draft, then Generate image. After generation, use Download image and open the downloaded PNG or JPG. Confirm its ratio, crop, complete text and watermark. Generating a preview and downloading a file are separate actions; a saved draft alone is not the finished image.

You can make, save and preview an image without an account, but downloading requires registration. Free downloads include the ClipPrism watermark; Lite and Standard downloads are watermark-free. Making images does not consume processing minutes and does not change your MP4 export permissions. See Pricing for the separate video and image benefits.

Pair the image with a truthful description. If you need show notes or social writing, use AI Writer, then review the writing and image together. Neither tool publishes the post for you.

6. Recheck the image after changing its source

If the saved Clip changes, review the frame and quote before confirming the updated source. Existing image drafts are not silently replaced by new recommendations or translations. If the generated result belongs to an earlier image draft, generate again rather than downloading it as the current design.

Keep your edits when generation fails and use the recovery action for an uncertain request before starting another one. After a downgrade, create a Free copy when prompted instead of overwriting a paid design that uses restricted resources. Images share the source’s access and retention rules, so download what you need before the source expires.
